Lab Studies: Vitamin D 25-OH 12. TSH, CMP, CBC within normal limits. Other Studies: Point of Care ultrasound at initial visit showed periosteal reaction and fracture line present at the area of pain on the left and right tibias. Left tib/fib X-ray: Incomplete fracture of the mid to distal left tibia. Marginal sclerosis and new bone formation consistent with changes of healing. Growth plates remain open proximally and distally. Case Photo #1 CT Left Leg: Stress fracture involving anterior tibial cortex 14cm above the ankle with 11mm transverse fracture line. Cortical thickening and periosteal reaction. Fracture lines consistent with healing. Case Photo #2 Right tib/fib X-ray: Incomplete fracture of the mid to distal right tibia. Sclerosis and new bone formation consistent with changes of healing. Growth plates remain open proximally and distally. Case Photo #3 CT Right Leg: Stress fracture involving anterior tibial cortex 15cm above the ankle with 13mm transverse fracture line. Smooth healing callus present, suggesting chronicity. Evidence of trabecular bridging consistent with healing. Case Photo #4 Consultations: Orthopedic colleagues consulted; opted for aggressive conservative treatment due to risks of surgery with open growth plates. Click here to continue.
