Work up in the ED included CT scans of his neck and chest which revealed extensive pneumomediastinum with uncertain source, a small pneumothorax, and a small suspected pulmonary contusion along the inferolateral aspect of the right upper lobe. No rib fractures, scapular fractures, or defects of trachea or esophagus were observed.
