Other Studies:
Point of care Ultrasound at initial clinic visit: 2.3 x 1.5 x 0.8 cm fluid filled hypoechoic cystic structure noted, without doppler flow. Hypoechoic area is compressible and painful to sonopalpation. Fluid does not appear to communicate with the ankle joint. There is a subtle cortical irregularity of the distal tibia. X-ray of L ankle 3 view shows a non-displaced fracture of the medial malleolus, extending to the articular surface. No step-off is noted. Growth plates are closed. Case Photo #3 and Case Photo #4

Consultations:
The case was discussed with Orthopedics due to extension of fracture into the joint. It was determined to be stable in appearance, and no CT scan was recommended.
