Lab Studies: ESR - 67 CRP - 6.1 CBC - WBC 11.3 Other Studies: Lumbar spine radiographs demonstrated vertebral body sclerosis with endplate destructive changes at T12/L1. Case Photo #2 These changes are new compared to previous lumbar spine radiographs from four months earlier. Case Photo #1 Lumbar spine MRI, performed with and without contrast, demonstrated decreased T1 and increased T2 signal to the entirety of T12 and L1 vertebral bodies, as well as endplate destruction, hyperintense T2 signal within the disc space, and paraspinal inflammatory phlegmon circumferentially greater on the right than left approximately 2 cm thick. Case Photo #3 Case Photo #4 Tissue culture from T12-L1 disc space and vertebral bodies showed acute inflammation, blood, and rare bone fragments consistent with acute osteomyelitis and discitis.
