Limited diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound examination of the distal right lower extremity revealed focal enlargement of the sural nerve approximately 4 cm proximal to the lateral malleolus with surrounding soft tissue swelling. No entrapment was identified Case Photo #1 . Subsequent MRI without contrast demonstrated edema surrounding the sural nerve without discrete mass or cyst. In addition, there was evidence of minimal insertional Achilles tendonitis and peritendonitis 3.8 cm proximally Case Photo #2 , Case Photo #3 , Case Photo #4 .
