Posterior Knee Mass; Is It A Tumor? - Page #3

Other Studies:
Magnetic resonance imaging of the left knee Case Photo #1 demonstrated intact menisci and ligaments, a multi-loculated cystic-like collection along the lateral aspect of the knee, and a small ganglion cyst projecting inferiorly from the proximal tibiofibular joint.

Ultrasound-guided aspiration of posterior left knee mass resulted in easily-visualized placement of the needle within the cystic structures. Minimal serosanguineous fluid collected, despite multiple aspiration attempts.

Operative biopsy of the lesion yielded a tissue sample that was evaluated in the pathology laboratory. Biopsy was consistent with a benign neurofibroma.
