Subtle Presentation Of A Significant Neck Injury - Page #4

Working Diagnosis:
Non-displaced laminae and bilateral facet fractures of C6 and a spinous process fracture at C5

Treatment:
Hard cervical collar for 6 six weeks

Outcome:
Fractures healed, but patient has persistent neck pain and stiffness. He does not plan to return to dirt biking.

Author's Comments:
It's unusual to see such a delayed presentation of such a severe C-Spine injury. The bilateral facet fractures could have easily become displaced and injured the nerve roots or spinal cord.
